As of 4PM today, October 19, 2020, the Department of Health reports the total number of COVID-19 cases at 359,169, after 2,638 newly-confirmed cases were added to the list of COVID-19 patients.
DOH likewise announces 226 recoveries. This brings the total number of recoveries to 310,303.
Note: Of the 2,638 reported cases today, 1,932 (73%) occurred within the recent 14 days (October 6 - October 19, 2020). The top regions with cases in the recent two weeks were NCR (555 or 29%), Region 4A (463 or 24%) and Region 6 (187 or 10%).
Of the 26 deaths, 15 occurred in October (58%), 2 in September (8%) 5 in August (19%) and 4 in July (15%). Deaths were from NCR (6 or 23%), Region 12 (4 or 15%), Region 9 (3 or 12%), Region 6 (2 or 8%), Region 8 (2 or 8%), Region 4A (2 or 8%), Region 1 (1 or 4%), Region 3 (1 or 4%), Region 10 (1 or 4%), Region 11 (1 or 4%), BARMM (1 or 4%), CAR (1 or 4%), and unspecified (1 or 4%).
87 duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 76 recovered cases and 3 deaths have been removed.
Moreover, 5 cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths.
16 labs were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Data Repository System (CDRS) on October 18, 2020.
These numbers undergo constant cleaning and validation.
