EASTERN VISAYAS LOGS HIGHEST SINGLE-DAY SPIKE IN NEW COVID-19 CASES AT 173

 

As of 7PM today, October 13, 2020, the Department of Health- Eastern Visayas reports the region’s total number of COVID-19 cases at 5,493, total recoveries at 4,725 (86.02%), and total deaths at 52 (0.95%). This brings the total active cases to 716 (13.03%).

A total of 173 new cases were recorded out of 1,198 laboratory samples tested in two (2) COVID-19 laboratories in the region, the EVRCTC and DWHVL.

The EVRCTC has released a total of 941 laboratory results. Of these, 774 are negative and  167 are positive for COVID-19 (with 165 new cases and 2 reswabs).

Meanwhile, the DWHVL has released a total of 257 laboratory results. Of these, 248 are negative and 9 are positive for COVID-19 (with 8 new cases and 1 reswab).

The 173 new cases are  from the following provinces/cities/municipalities:

Palo - 3 ( 2 Close Contacts, 1 LSI)

NORTHERN SAMAR (103)

Allen - 2 (1 Healthcare Worker,  1 LSI) 

Catarman -  36 (28 Close Contacts, 5 Healthcare Workers, 3 No details)

Laoang - 60 (48 Close Contacts, 1 Healthcare Worker, 11 No Details)

Meanwhile, the  new COVID-19 mortality is EV-5142, a 77/M from Catarman, Northern Samar who died yesterday, October 12, 2020.

Other details will be provided by the concerned LGU.

Two (2) cases previously tagged as new cases were reclassified as reswabs upon verification. Hence, the adjustment of our total case count.
