As of 4PM on Saturday, October 17, 2020, the Department of Health reports the total number of COVID-19 cases at 354,338, after 2,673 newly-confirmed cases were added to the list of COVID-19 patients.
DOH likewise announces 539 recoveries. This brings the total number of recoveries to 295,312.
Note: Of the 2,673 reported cases today, 2,286 (86%) occurred within the recent 14 days (October 4 - October 17, 2020). The top regions with cases in the recent two weeks were NCR (646 or 28%), Region 4A
(603 or 26%) and Region 3 (213 or 9%).
Of the 73 deaths, 49 occurred in October (67%), 3 in September (4%) 18 in August (25%) 2 in July (3%) and 1 in May (1%). Deaths were from NCR (32 or 44%), Region 4A (10 or 14%), Region 3 (9 or 12%), Region 9 (5 or 7%), CARAGA (5 or 7%), Region 11 (4 or 5%), Region 6 (3 or 4%), Region 12 (2 or 3%), Region 1 (1 or 1%), Region 5 (1 or 1%), and Region 7 (1 or 1%).
85 duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 78 recovered cases and a death have been removed.
Moreover, 14 cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths.
14 labs were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Data Repository System (CDRS) on October 16, 2020.
These numbers undergo constant cleaning and validation.
