NEWS UPDATE - TACLOBAN CITY, LEYTE, PHILIPPINES
77 NEW COVID-19 CASES, 1 DEATH AND 99 RECOVERIES ADDED ON MONDAY
As of 7PM on Monday, October 19, 2020, the Department of Health- Eastern Visayas reports the region’s total number of COVID-19 cases at 5,893, total recoveries at 5,039 (85.51%) and total deaths at 55 (0.93%). This brings the total active cases to 799 (13.56%).
A total of 77 new cases were recorded out of 764 laboratory samples tested in two (2) COVID-19 laboratories in the region, the EVRCTC and DWHVL.
The EVRCTC has released a total of 615 laboratory results. Of these, 543 are negative and 72 are positive for COVID-19 (70 new cases and 2 reswabs).
Meanwhile, the DWHVL has released a total of 149 laboratory results. Of these, 141 are negative and 8 are positive for COVID-19 (with 7 new cases and 1 reswab).
The 77 new cases are from the following provinces/cities/municipalities:

The new COVID-19 mortality is a 68/M from Palo, Leyte who died on October 17, 2020. This brings our total COVID-19 deaths to 55.
Other details will be provided by the concerned LGU.
On the other hand, one (1) case previously tagged as new case from Jiabong, Samar was reclassified as reswab upon verification. Hence, the adjustment of our total case count.
