88 NEW COVID-19 CASES, 1 DEATH AND  53 RECOVERIES RECORDED ON TUESDAY

 

As of 7PM on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, the Department of Health- Eastern Visayas reports the region’s total number of COVID-19 cases at 5,981, total recoveries at 5,092 (85.14%), and total deaths at 56 (0.94%). This brings the total active cases to 832 (13.91%)

A total of 88 new confirmed cases were recorded out of 1,213 laboratory samples tested in two (2) COVID-19 laboratories in the region, the EVRCTC and DWHVL.

The EVRCTC has released a total of 845 laboratory results. Of these, 768 are negative and 77 are positive for COVID-19 (with 75 new cases and 2 reswabs).

Meanwhile, the DWHVL has released a total of 368 laboratory results. Of these,  326 are negative and 42 are positive for COVID-19 (with 13 new cases and 29 reswabs).

The  88 new confirmed COVID -19 cases are  from the following provinces/cities/municipalities:

Palo - 4, (3 Close contact, 1 LSI)

Catbalogan City - 2 (Close contacts)

Paranas - 3 (Close contacts)

San Jorge - 10 (Close contacts)

NORTHERN SAMAR (23)

Catarman - 3 (Close contacts)

Laoang - 14 (9 Close contacts, 5 HCWs)

Mondragon - 3

Palapag - 3 (Close contacts)

The additional COVID-19 mortality is a 46/M from Tacloban City who died on October 19, 2020. This brings our total COVID-19 deaths to 56.

Also, we have a COVID-19 confirmed case, a 42/M from Lawaan, Eastern Samar who died from vehicular accident (not a COVID-19 related death). Hence, the adjustment of our total active cases to 832 (13.91%).

Other details will be provided by the concerned LGU.
