TROPICAL CYCLONE: WARNING

TROPICAL DEPRESSION "TONYO" MAINTAINS ITS STRENGTH AND IS NOW OVER LOBO, BATANGAS.
Track and Intensity Outlook
• The center of Tropical Depression “TONYO” made landfall over San Juan, Batangas at 8:00 AM today. It is forecast to move west-northwestward or westward over Batangas-Cavite area. On the forecast track, "TONYO" will emerge over the West Philippine Sea this morning or afternoon and exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) tomorrow morning. "TONYO" is forecast to intensify into tropical storm within the next 24 hours.
Hazards affecting land areas
• Heavy rainfall: Today, “TONYO” will bring light to moderate with at times heavy rains over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Aurora, the northern portion of Quezon including Polillo Islands, Rizal, Laguna, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro Provinces, and Palawan including Calamian and Kalayaan Islands. PAGASA Regional Services Divisions may issue local thunderstorm/rainfall advisories and heavy rainfall warnings while the Hydrometeorology Division and River Basin Flood Forecasting and Warning Centers may issue General Flood Advisories and Basin Flood Bulletins as appropriate.
• Strong winds: Areas under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal #1 may experience strong breeze to near gale conditions with occasional gusts throughout the passage of “TONYO”. The Northeast Monsoon will also bring strong breeze to near gale conditions over Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, Apayao, and the northern portion of mainland Cagayan.
Hazards affecting coastal waters
• Moderate to rough seas (1.5 to 3.5 m) due to “TONYO” and the prevailing easterlies will be experienced over the seaboards of areas under TCWS #1 and the eastern seaboards of Cagayan Valley, Aurora, and the northern portion of Quezon, and the northern and eastern seaboards of Catanduanes. Mariners of small seacrafts are advised to take precautionary measures when venturing out to sea. Inexperienced mariners should avoid navigating in these conditions.
• The Northeast Monsoon will bring rough to very rough seas (2.5 to 4.5 m) over the seaboards of Batanes, Ilocos Norte, and Ilocos Sur and the northern seaboard of Cagayan including Babuyan Islands. Sea travel is risky over these waters, especially for mariners of small seacrafts.
Location of eye/center At 10:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Depression "TONYO" was estimated based on all available data in the vicinity of Lobo, Batangas(13.7°N, 121.2°E).
Strength Maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 60 km/h.
Movement Moving West Northwestward at 25 km/h.

The northern and central portions of Quezon (Gumaca, Pitogo, Quezon, Alabat, Perez, Unisan, Plaridel, Atimonan, Agdangan, Padre Burgos, Pagbilao, Mauban, Tayabas City, Lucena City, Sariaya, Candelaria, Tiaong, San Antonio, Dolores, Lucban, Sampaloc, Real, Infanta, General Nakar) including Polillo Islands, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Batangas, Metro Manila, Bataan, Bulacan, Pampanga, the southern portion of Aurora (Dingalan), the southern portion of Zambales (San Marcelino, San Felipe, San Narciso, San Antonio, Castillejos, Subic, Olongapo City), Marinduque, the northern portion of Romblon (Romblon, San Andres, Calatrava, San Agustin, Corcuera, Banton, Concepcion), the northern and central portions of Oriental Mindoro (Bongabong, Bansud, Gloria, Pinamalayan, Socorro, Pola, Naujan, Victoria, Calapan City, Baco, San Teodoro, Puerto Galera), the northern and central portions of Occidental Mindoro (Sablayan, Santa Cruz, Mamburao, Paluan, Abra de Ilog) including Lubang Island
• Very light or no damage to low risk structures,
• Light damage to medium to high risk structures
• Slight damage to some houses of very light materials or makeshift structures in exposed communities. Some banana plants are tilted, a few downed and leaves are generally damaged
• Twigs of small trees may be broken.
• Rice crops, however, may suffer significant damage when it is in its flowering stage.
TCWS #1 in other areas is now lifted.
The public and the disaster risk reduction and management council concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next Severe Weather Bulletin to be issued at 2 PM today.
