Manila, Philippines - The Department of Health on Wednesday has recorded the total number of CoViD-19 Cases in the Philippines at 50,359.q

COVID-19 CASES IN THE PHILIPPINES HAS BREACHED 50,000 INFECTIONS ‼‼‼
The Department of Health reported 2,539 additional cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, July 8, 2020, the highest jump in cases ever recorded to date, bringing the total number of cases in the Philippines to 50,359.

Of the 2,539 additional cases, 617 were from late confirmed cases while 1,922 were from “fresh cases” that were released within the last three days.

As of 9PM today, July 08, 2020, the Department of Health reports the total number of COVID-19 cases at 50,359.

In addition to the 1,922 fresh cases, 617 late cases were also reported today, bringing the total to 2,539 total cases. Today's numbers were from the submissions of 67 (91%) out of 74 laboratories.

Of the total, 1066 (42%) were from NCR, followed by Region 7 with 443 (17%). Ninety (90) per cent of the cases went ill in the past two weeks. 

An increase in the number of cases were also reported from closed settings (MRT and a construction site), with the MRT reporting 202 cases. There is also continuous clustering observed in barangays. 

The event-based surveillance report showed the following: NCR had 6 new barangays with clustering, 1 in Cebu City, 1 in Mandaue City, 1 in Palawan, and 1 in Albay.

Note: 
Of the 5 reported deaths, 2  (40%) occurred in July. Fifty-three (53) duplicates were removed from total case count.The total cases reported may be subject to change as these numbers undergo constant cleaning and validation.
