2019 NOVEL CORONAVIRUS DISEASE UPDATES FOR WEEK 1 OF 2021 (JANUARY 3-7, 2021)

The Philippines experienced a rise in daily new cases of the 2019 Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) due to more laboratories are now available in their daily tests after the Holidays.

The DFA received a lone report confirming only 1 new COVID-19 case among Filipinos abroad today.

To date, the total number of confirmed cases is at 12,892; total fatalities at 911; total recoveries at 8,387; and total DOH IHR verified cases remains at 3,478.

The DFA remains fully committed to monitoring the situation of overseas Filipinos and remains steadfast in promoting and protecting their welfare.

Today, the DFA reports 37 new COVID-19 cases, 3 new recoveries, and 23 new fatalities among Filipinos in Asia and the Pacific, Europe, and Middle East and Africa. 

To date, the total number of countries and territories with confirmed cases among Filipinos remains at 84.

The DFA, together with its Foreign Service Posts, continues to partner with host governments to ensure the safety and well-being of Filipino nationals abroad amidst the pandemic.

Erratum: As of 12 nn of January 4, 2021, out of the 28 declared death of January 3, 2021, one (1) death was reported yesterday due to Brain Traumatic Injury secondary to Motorcycle Accident and not primarily due to COVID-19 infection. True death census for January 3, 2021 was 27 only.
UPDATE: As of 6:00PM of January 4, 2021, the PNP Health Service recorded 16 new recoveries today bringing the total number of personnel who recovered from COVID-19 to 8,738.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the PNP organization is 9,111 with 344 active cases.

One new death was also recorded by the Health Service bringing the total number of personnel who died from COVID-19 to 28.

30 NEW COVID-19 CASES, TWO (2) DEATHS, AND 44 RECOVERIES RECORDED TODAY
 

As of 9AM today, January 3, 2021, the Department of Health- Eastern Visayas reports the region’s total number of COVID-19 cases at 11,442, total recoveries at 10,685 (93.38%), and total deaths at 133 (1.16%). This brings the total active cases to 624 (5.45%).

A total of 30 new cases were recorded out of 183 laboratory samples tested in the three (3) COVID-19 laboratories in the region, the EVRCTC, DWHVL, and the Ormoc Molecular Diagnostic Center.

The EVRCTC has released a total of 44 laboratory results. Of these, 22 are negative and 22 are positive for COVID-19 (with 21 new cases and 1 reinfection).

Meanwhile, the DWHVL has released a total of 94 laboratory results. Of these, 86 are negative and 8 are positive for COVID-19 (with 6 new cases and 2 reswabs).

The Ormoc Molecular Diagnostic Center has also released a total of 45 laboratory results with 5 positives (with 3 new cases and 2 reswabs) and 40 negatives.

The 30 new confirmed cases are from the following provinces/cities/municipalities:

As of 9AM today, January 4, 2021, the Department of Health- Eastern Visayas reports the region’s total number of COVID-19 cases at 11,453, total recoveries at 10,723 (93.63%), and total deaths at 133 (1.16%). This brings the total active cases to 597 (5.21%).

The DWHVL has released a total of 129 laboratory results. Of these, 118 are negative and 11 are positive for COVID-19.

The 11 new confirmed cases are from the following provinces/cities/municipalities:

Today, the DFA reports a spike in the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases and recoveries, with 67 new cases and 40 new recoveries in Asia and the Pacific, Europe, and Middle East and Africa. Meanwhile, no new COVID-19 fatality was reported. 

To date, the Middle East and Africa remains to be the region with the most number of confirmed COVID-19 cases, recoveries, under treatment, and fatalities among our nationals. The Americas has the least numbers in all categories compared to other geographic regions, except in the total number of deaths, wherein Asia and the Pacific ranks lowest with a total of only 21.

49 NEW COVID-19 CASES, ONE (1) DEATH, AND 25 RECOVERIES RECORDED TODAY
 

As of 9AM today, January 5, 2021, the Department of Health- Eastern Visayas reports the region’s total number of COVID-19 cases at 11,502, total recoveries at 10,748 (93.44%), and total deaths at 134 (1.17%). This brings the total active cases to 620 (5.39%).

A total of 49 new cases were recorded out of 427 laboratory samples tested in the three (3) COVID-19 laboratories in the region, the EVRCTC, DWHVL, and the Ormoc Molecular Diagnostic Center.

The EVRCTC has released a total of 276 laboratory results. Of these, 243 are negative and 33 are positive for COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the DWHVL has released a total of 118 laboratory results. Of these, 110 are negative and eight (8) are positive for COVID-19.

The Ormoc Molecular Diagnostic Center has released also a total of 33 laboratory results with eight (8) positives and 25 negatives.

Figures today show 5 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, 16 new recoveries, and no new fatalities among Filipinos abroad. This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases and recoveries among our nationals abroad to over 13,000 and almost 8,500, respectively.

The DFA, together with its Foreign Service Posts, remains fully committed to monitoring and assisting our nationals abroad amidst this ongoing battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The DFA received reports on 16 new COVID-19 cases, and 14 new recoveries among Filipinos in Asia and the Pacific and Europe. Meanwhile, no new fatality was recorded.

The DFA shall continue to keep track of the status of overseas Filipinos, and will assist and facilitate repatriations whenever and wherever possible.

129 NEW COVID-19 CASES, TWO (2) DEATHS, 22 AND  RECOVERIES RECORDED TODAY
 

As of 9AM today, January 6, 2021, the Department of Health- Eastern Visayas reports the region’s total number of COVID-19 cases at 11,631, total recoveries at 10,770 (92.60%), and total deaths at 136 (1.17%). This brings the total active cases to 725 (6.23%).

A total of 129 new cases were recorded out of 1,085 laboratory samples tested in the three (3) COVID-19 laboratories in the region, the EVRCTC, DWHVL, and the Ormoc Molecular Diagnostic Center.

The EVRCTC has released a total of 869 laboratory results. Of these, 766 are negative and 103 are positive for COVID-19 (with 102 new cases and one (1) reinfection).

Meanwhile, the DWHVL has released a total of 188 laboratory results. Of these, 168 are negative and 20 are positive for COVID-19 (with 18 new cases and two (2) reswabs).

The Ormoc Molecular Diagnostic Center has released also a total of  28 laboratory results with  nine (9) positives and 19 negatives.

As of 9AM today, January 7, 2021, the Department of Health- Eastern Visayas reports the region’s total number of COVID-19 cases at 11,719, total recoveries at 10,803 (92.18%), and total deaths at 139 (1.19%). This brings the total active cases to 777 (6.63%).

A total of 88 new cases were recorded out of 1,142 laboratory samples tested in the three (3) COVID-19 laboratories in the region, the EVRCTC, DWHVL, and the Ormoc Molecular Diagnostic Center.

The EVRCTC has released a total of 774 laboratory results. Of these, 727 are negative and 47 are positive for COVID-19 (with 44 new cases, 1 reswab, and 2 reinfection).

Meanwhile, the DWHVL has released a total of 320 laboratory results. Of these, 290 are negative and 30 are positive for COVID-19 (with 29 new cases and 1 reswab).

EV-11327, a 45/F, from Quinapondan, Eastern Samar, who died on December 29, 2020

EV-9400, an 80/F, from Marabut, Samar who died on January 6, 2021
