Unemployed Contributors of SSS to Receive Cash Aid

Manila, Philippines - Contributors of the Social Security System members who are looking for a job diring the COVID-19 pandemic, will receive P20,000 worth of cash assistance or based on their monthly salary credit, according to the SSS Public Affairs and Special Events Division head Fernando Nicolas.

Fernando Nicolas said that SSS members only need to present their Certification of "Involuntary Separation" from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and savings account on where the said money will be deposited.

“Up to 20,000 o katumbas po ito ng one month salary credit. Halimbawa, ang isang miyembro ay naghuhulog ng para sa P20,000 monthly salary credit, makakakuha po siya ng ganung halaga,” he said in an interview.

This unemployed benefits from the government will be received by the beneficiaries within five days, Nicolas said. Half of that amount will be deposited on the first month of release, the other half will be deposited on the second month of release.
Nicolas said that all the members of the said cash aid assistance are also qualified to receive yet another unemployment assistance from other government agencies.
As for the Overseas Filipino Workers, the certificate can be requested from Philippine Overseas Employment Office (POLO), not directly from DOLE.

But Nicolas said that the SSS members that are registered as self-employed are not qualified in the said program.
