Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), also known as the coronavirus, or COVID, is a contagious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The first known case was identified in Wuhan, China, in December 2019.[7] The disease has since spread worldwide, leading to an ongoing pandemic.[8]
COVID-19 affects different people in different ways. Most infected people will develop mild to moderate illness and recover without hospitalization.

Compared to last week’s percentages, the total number of COVID-19 recoveries saw a slight decrease to 60.65%. Meanwhile fatalities and those under treatment increased to 6.01% and 33.34%, respectively.

Today, the DFA received reports confirming 2 new COVID-19 cases, 3 new recoveries, and no new fatality among Filipinos abroad. Meanwhile, 7 new cases were verified by DOH-IHR.
The DFA personnel in our Foreign Service Posts remain steadfast in partnering with local health authorities and commit to tirelessly attending to the needs of our people, whenever possible.

The DFA received a lone report confirming 7 new COVID-19 cases, no new recovery, and no new fatality in Asia and the Pacific today.
To date, the total number of confirmed cases is at 20,431; total fatalities at 1,220; total recoveries at 12,096; and total DOH IHR verified cases at 4,593.
The DFA continues to monitor the situation of overseas Filipinos and remains steadfast in promoting and protecting their welfare.

Figures as of today show 226 new COVID-19 cases, 120 new recoveries, and 7 new fatalities among Filipinos abroad. This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases and recoveries among our nationals abroad to 20,661 and 12,221, respectively.
The reported spike is due to surge in COVID-19 cases reported in one country in the Middle East.
The DFA, together with its Foreign Service Posts, remains fully committed to monitoring and assisting our nationals abroad amid the pandemic.

June 6 – The ninth batch of Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine arrived at NAIA around 7:36 a.m consisting of 1,000,000 doses via Cebu Pacific flight.[351]
June 7 – FDA Director General Eric Domingo confirmed the approval of EUA of Sinopharm BBIBP-CorV COVID-19 vaccine, becoming the 8th vaccine to receive regulatory approval in the country after Sinovac, Pfizer-BioNTech, Oxford-AstraZeneca, Gamaleya-Sputnik V, Johnson & Johnson, Covaxin and Moderna. Earlier on May 8, 2021, WHO approved the emergency use of the said vaccine.[363][364]
