INTRODUCTIONS
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), also known as the coronavirus, or COVID, is a contagious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The first known case was identified in Wuhan, China, in December 2019.[7] The disease has since spread worldwide, leading to an ongoing pandemic.[8]

As of today, the DFA received reports confirming 99 new COVID-19 cases, 88 new recoveries, and 8 new fatalities among Filipinos abroad. Meanwhile, 11 new cases were verified by DOH-IHR.

Today, the DFA received reports on 7 new COVID-19 cases. Meanwhile, no new recovery and no new fatality were recorded. The 27 previously reported recoveries in the Middle East were deducted from today’s figures upon verification by Post.
The percentage of COVID-19 fatalities and recoveries against total confirmed cases are at 5.95% and 59.06%, respectively. While those under treatment are at 29.31%.

PNP LOGS 76TH FATALITY TO COVID-19
A policeman from Zamboanga City is the latest fatality of the police force raising the total number of deaths to 76.
PNP Chief, Police General Guillermo Lorenzo T Eleazar said that based on the report submitted to him by the Health Service, the 48-year-old police staff sergeant died on July 6 due to Severe Pneumonia and Acute Respiratory failure secondary to Covid-19.

Over the previous weeks, the DFA reports 147 new confirmed cases, 76 new recoveries, and 16 new fatalities among Filipinos abroad. There are now 97 countries and territories with confirmed cases of COVID-19 among Filipinos abroad, following reports from the Middle East and Africa.
Compared to last week’s figures, the total number of COVID-19 fatalities, under treatment, and recoveries slightly increased by 1.29%, 0.75%, and 0.62%, respectively.
The DFA continues to monitor the situation of overseas Filipinos and remains steadfast in promoting and protecting their welfare.

As of July 29, The Philippine National Police Health Service recorded another fatality and tallied 156 more confirmed cases of COVID-19 infection in the PNP which now totaled 30,156 cases.
PNP Chief Police General Guillermo Lorenzo T Eleazar announced today the death of 40-year-old police staff sergeant assigned in Camp Crame. The deceased is the 82nd fatality of the police force due to Covid-19.
