Lenticular Clouds Shrouds Mt Mayon Summit

Legazpi City, Albay - Pancake Clouds cover the summit of Mt. Mayon in the City Of Legazpi in the Province of Albay pictured by a cyclist on a rainy day on Friday. This was captured during the early morning hours of that day, June 26, 2020.

It shrouded the summit of the well-known volcano in Albay Province, welcoming locals to a picturesque morning

Lenticular clouds also known as pancake clouds are usually observed in mountainous regions. According to NASA, the clouds are formed when moist air is forced upwards near a mountain or a volcano.

Meanwhile, Phivolcs maintains that Alert Level 2 currently prevails over Mayon because the volcano is at a moderate level of unrest. This prevents climbers from reaching the summit and inside the danger zone around the crater of the volcano.
